More and more studies show that a baby’s motor and postural development is deeply connected to their ability to feed, breathe, and relate to their environment. In this article, I invite you to look at breastfeeding from a new perspective: the perspective of the body in motion.

🌱 Two systems that grow together

From birth, the baby’s body begins to organize itself through two major systems:

The orofacial system, responsible for sucking, swallowing, breathing, and expression.

The postural and motor system, which supports the body, enables movement, and provides stability.

Both develop in an interdependent way.
